Kevlar Ultra Light Canoes

Langford Canoe has manufactured canoes longer than any other Canadian canoe company.

As such we are able to build upon our own historic designs, and manufacturing experience, rather than borrowing from others or riding the coattails of defunct companies.

Ultra Light Canoes

With over 70 years of Cedar Canoe manufacturing and design experience, Langford continues to set the benchmark (established 20 years ago) for modern light weight canoe construction. The Langford Ultra Light Kevlar lay up provides the highest measure of durability at the lowest possible weight.

Rather than simply building less canoe. Langford has engineered hulls that expertly balance, longterm durability and high functioning shapes against realistic material weights.

The Kevlar Ultra Light lay-up is available
in a number of both Symmetrical and Asymmetrical hull designs, and with a clear coat or many colour options.

Symmetrical:

Prospector 15, Prospector 16'6", Prospector 17'4", Angler 13'6", Otter 15'3"

Asymmetrical:

Muskoka 15'9", Nahanni 16'5", Northwind 17'10"

Langford was the first canoe company to fully adopt the use of modern materials and manufacturing methods used in high-end marine manufacture. Langford's pioneering spirit, combined with specific construction techniques and materials, have allowed us to lower the weight of composite canoes by more than 50 lbs. in 20 years. This drastic weight savings has also come with a marked improvement in damage resistance and the hull's ability to maintain the line of the mould.

For more than 2 decades the key components of Langford's Kevlar, Kevlar Ultra Light and true Carbon Fibre Hulls have been the Vacuum Fusion Process, as well as High Density Cores and Top Quality Resins. Langford offers the greatest strength to weight ratio of any canoe because of the substantially greater material quality.

On top of material, the shape of our canoes has been refined over 70 years. Whether Symmetrical or Asymmetrical, our high efficiency shallow draft hull designs extend larger volume, greater tracking, better water shedding ability and greater carrying capacity. All without effecting speed and maneuverability.

When it comes to the manufacture of a cone there are no secret manufacturing methods or proprietary materials available to one company and not another. The finished quality of a canoe is governed only by the quality, quantity and placement of materials and their assembly. This being the case, even the layman should be able to recognize in a Langford the much greater substance and attention to detail. Our canoes offer greater performance due to more complex hull designs, added depth, width, length, volume and capacity versus draft. A Langford also contains more robust bolstering, material thickness and strength while weighing less than any other full function canoe on the market.

For 70 years our wide range of canoes have been the first choice of back country explorers, hunters, fishers, surveyors, outfitters, guides, rangers, law enforcement officials and the well informed novice enthusiast.

Langford's commitment to generations of avid paddlers has always remained the same; to provide canoes that surpass all others in quality, safety, function, performance and longevity.
