Symmetrical Canoes
Langford's line of symmetrical canoes expertly blend 70 years of refined design and manufacturing experience.
Langford Canoe Company blends Tradition with today's Modern Designs, continuing the standard of excellence we have maintained over 60 years in our Classic Cedar Canoes. Our Symmetrical Line of canoes boast designs which provide equal friction across the entire wetted surface, providing excellent initial stability to the user. This also contributes to the seaworthiness of the canoe. Such stability enhances your safety when carrying small children or pets, which are prone to movement in the canoe. Photographers, fishers and bird watchers are also apt to choose this style of canoe for the same reason. The soft rocker in our models also provide a feeling of security in rough weather, when wind and waves can play havoc with a poorly designed boat. All Langford Symmetrical Series canoes paddle with ease and maneuver well, to the enjoyment of both novice and experienced paddler alike! Still the first choice of serious trippers because of the overall versatility no matter the conditions!

Prospector 15′
The “15″ can be enjoyed by paddlers at all experience levels. This boat lends itself well to both solo paddlers and short duration tandem trippers. The 15 is the choice of fishers and hunters, a perfect back-country boat. The 15 is at home on small inland lakes, and on much bigger water. The deep and stable hull will permit larger loads for medium length tripping excursions, and the massive capacity of this “little” canoe makes it a safe tripping design for those requiring a length shorter than 16 foot. The flared Hull and moulded Spray Rail significantly improves it’s seaworthiness, allowing it to shed more water then any other 15 foot canoe. The slight V-Hull design, provides exceptional stability ( both initial and secondary ) and a tracking quality that is not typical of shorter symmetrical canoes. The slight V also allows this shorter canoe to slice through chop with the efficiency of a longer hull. The moderate rocker and shorter length allow nimble movement and quick pivoting when the need arises. Test Paddle the Prospector 15 to find out why its the most popular lightweight canoe under 16 feet on the market.

Prospector 16’6″
70 years in the making, the Langford 16.6 Prospector is the quintessential tripping canoe. Rather than borrowing designs and riding the coattails of defunct companies our Prospector’s design has come into being by way of our own original cedar 16 footers; the Algonquin, the Trapper, and the Legacy/Trader moulds. These canoes have expertly crafted lines, that have been refined to a point of perfection for over 7 decades. The 16’6″ Prospector’s shape mirrors perfectly the best lines of these award winning cedar canoes and takes them further then wood construction will allow. Paddled solo or tandem, the canoes efficiency, exceptional maneuverability, and tracking ability (especially while loaded) is simply unsurpassed. The performance and seaworthiness of the Langford Prospector is enjoyed by the novice day paddler, through to those whose endeavours may see them paddling for weeks on end. Our canoes have been used by local fishers, hunters, and Natural Resources staff for decades. The Langford Prospector 16.6 offers big water safety, and responsiveness no other canoe can. Serious water shedding ability is provided via the flared hull, swept gunwale and a “Spray Rail” that has been moulded directly into the canoes laminate hull. Even when laden with gear the Langford Prospector’s clean modern shape allows it to out pace most fully loaded asymmetrically hulls. There is simply no better 16 foot heavy hauler to trust on a swollen rolling lake. When the sky turns black, and the tops of the waves are white, the Prospector 16.6 really outshines the competition. Short of our Prospector 17.4, there is simply no safer choice for the avid tripper, especially when children or pets are part of the equation. Langford’s 20th Generation Integrated HD Core System (found in our Kevlar, Ultra-Light Kevlar, and Full Carbon Fibre Hulls) also endows the Prospector 16.6 with the best strength to weight ratio of any canoe. Test Paddle the Prospector 16.6 to find out what you have been missing.

Prospector 17’4″
The Prospector 17.4 was created for those looking to conquer horizons. This extremely fast, sleek, & stable canoe was inspired by our Cedar Prospector 17.3. The original model was used by guides, ferrying “sportsman” to their destinations. The design allowed for the canoe (even when heavily laden) to easily glide up and down shallow rivers and safely move over massive lakes. The modern hull combines amazing tracking, speed, and maneuverability, with an immense capacity and volume. This large capacity is further bolstered by the canoes shallow draft and high free board as well as a water shedding Spray Rail. These characteristics make our 17.4 the choice of both families and serious long-duration trippers, the only choice for the wise paddler, when accompanied by pets or children. Loaded or not the versatility of this model allows it to be greatly enjoyed as a recreational canoe or in a more serious extended tripping role. Paddlers operating the 17.4 will feel at home on the coast, inland seas like Lake Superior or on a calm bay at the cottage. Regardless of weather condition, the 17’4″ is a competent performer, leaving all others behind. The pronounced swept ends, immense depth, volume, and spray rail peel water away from the hull even in rollers that would swallow other canoes. As with all of our designs the Prospector 17.4 has been refined to the point of perfection, through 7 decades of manufacture. Bring the kids, dog and gear for a test paddle and find out why you should be paddling this canoe.
